Lashings of Essence!

Hey there lovelies, welcome to Elegant Ageless Beauty.

I am always on a quest to find my lashes! I used to have long thick eyelashes when I was younger, now I’m nearing 60 (next month) they have become sparse and so bloody straight. I can cope with them being sparse alright, but I hate that they have lost their oomph and curl, I want them to open up my eyes again. My eyes have become hooded over the years too which makes my lashes look even more non-existent. I did buy an eyelash serum to use at night to help regrowth, but I have always forgotten to use it in my nighttime routine. I’ll get back to using it (it’s a No7 one) and write a review, maybe that will spur me on to get the stuff on my lashes. But it is something you have to wait a while to see results of, and I’m not the most patient of women. I’d have to wait at least 3 months. If you think this is something you would like to see from me, leave me a comment.

Anyhoo, to give me a bit of confidence back, and some eyelashes I purchased a lash primer and mascara from the brand Essence.

I bought Lashes of the Day super volume mascara and Volume Booster lash primer. Let me start at the first base with the eyelash primer. This is infused with acai oil and mango butter to nourish the lashes, it’s white in colour when applied with the mascara wand applicator. You obviously apply it to your eyelashes before mascara let it dry for a few moments, then apply your mascara. It doesn’t dry down hard and crispy, my lashes still felt really soft. I had to have a sniff of the product, and to me, it smelt fruity. The brush is great at the lash separation, and got right to the really tiny lashes on the inside of my eyes, and also my bottom ones too. This is really great stuff! I have used it for all my various mascara brands and each time it has given me great eyelashes, and I feel more confident with the way my makeup looks. I tried to take some photos of my eyes to pop on here myself, but I just couldn’t do it. I will see if I can get Mark to take some for me, of me and I’ll post over on my Instagram at a later date. I purchased my Essence lash primer from Wilko in my local town, you can also get it from HERE.

The mascara I purchased to go with the lash primer is this one from Essence, Lashes of the Day Super Volume mascara. It doesn’t seem to be on the Wilko website right now so I’m not sure if it’s been discontinued or not. I tried this mascara with the primer and without, and I’m quite happy with my eyelashes without it. The brush is a great size and shape and grabs hold of all my lashes, even the tiny ones. I don’t like a mascara that’s too wet and this one isn’t, it applies brilliantly. My lashes don’t feel hard and crunchy and it doesn’t flake off during the day either. A really great mascara, in my opinion. As I said I purchased this mascara from my local Wilko store, but it doesn’t seem to be on their website so I can’t leave a link to this one.

Dual Wand Mascara by B. Makeup

Welcome to Elegant Ageless Beauty, it’s Teresa.

This mascara is such a great idea! I thought it was one of those that gives you an eyelash primer on one end and mascara on the other, but no this mascara has two sizes of brush to give you the best definition for your eyelashes.

The biggest brush is meant to add volume and lift to your upper lashes.

The smaller thinner brush is meant to coat all those little almost invisible eyelashes on the lower lashes. To be fair the smaller brush did help to get hold of the almost invisible ones on the top too! Whichever brush you use, it will help to give your lashes great coverage of the mascara and it’s buildable too.

I did still need to curl my lashes before I used this mascara as it doesn’t curl them enough for me. I always have to use lash curlers whichever brand of mascara I use to be honest. After curling them I then applied the product to my lashes wiggling the brush from root to tip as usual. I gave myself a good couple of coats to get a more awake look to my eyes. But, hello I loved the smaller brush on the wand! It coated my bottom lashes beautifully even the really fine hard to find hairs.

The HD Dual Wand Mascara is a lovely mascara, great for every day, it doesn’t flake off during wear it stays put until I take it off. I do find that an oil based cleanser/eye makeup remover is needed to remove the mascara so as to avoid over rubbing the eyes.

Right now at Superdrug there is a great offer on selected B. Makeup and Skincare, Buy 1 get the second half price HERE. B.Skincare and Makeup is all cruelty free and suitable for vegans too!

A Small Essence Haul from Wilko…

Welcome to Elegant Ageless Beauty, I’m Teresa.

Mark and I just had to get into the car and get out for a while on Sunday, after we had a really rubbish week. I wanted to purchase a few Essence cosmetics goodies from Wilko online but because the rubbish week was down to a bit of online fraud on Mark’s bank account we decided to go to our nearest Wilko store instead, safer that way.

I did write myself a list of Essence products I wanted but only managed to get a few from said list, our local store didn’t have everything in, but what I did buy I was happy with. I’ll be writing reviews on EAB soon.

I’m really looking forward to trying the Essence Camouflage 2 in 1 Foundation & Concealer, will I still need my concealer? We’ll see, and I will get back to you, soon  It was only £3.80. I’ve always wanted to try a lip oil, and when I saw this one by Essence I thought that I’d give it a go. I’ve no idea what a lip oil is for, does it colour, does it condition, does it hydrate? I’ll get back to you on that. The lip oil was just £2.00. I have wanted to try an Essence mascara for ages, especially one that claims to give “extreme volume and curl” my eyelashes or rather the state of them is really depressing me. I’d give my right arm to be able to go and get eyelash extensions done but until my numbers come up in the Lotto I shall keep on looking for my holy grail mascara. Could this be the one? I’ll let you know. The Essence False Lashes mascara is £2.80. I hate my lips as much as I do my eyelashes! If I could afford lip fillers I wouldn’t hesitate in getting them done! So until I do get that big Lotto cheque it’s lip plumping products for me! I picked up the Essence Volume On! lip plumping lipgloss, it’s a pretty nude peach shade, so I’ll give it a go and get back to you with my thoughts. The Essence Volume On! lip plumping lipgloss is £2.30 and finally I picked up a Nail Caring Oil it contains Apricot oil so I’m looking forward to trying that too. I’m in the middle of trialing some nail products at the moment, so I’ll let you know what the Essence product is like, soon. The Essence Nail Caring Oil is just £2.00.

I purchased my Essence products from my local Wilko stores but you can purchase online from Wilko too, HERE or from the Essence website HERE

Thank you for reading, I’ll be back soon with my thoughts on my Essence purchases.

My Top 6 MUA Makeup Academy Products….

Hey lovelies, Welcome to Elegant Ageless Beauty..

As regular readers of EAB might know, my favourite High Street budget makeup brand is the fabulous MUA Makeup Academy. Obviously I love them for  the price point of the products, but you also get great quality for such little money too. I thought that I would share with you my top 5 MUA products that I’ve been using for a long time or I’ve just found and been loving quite recently.

MuaMattePowder

The Skin Define Matte Perfect Loose Powder. This is a newer product in my makeup bag and I do use it every time I wear makeup. It really gives my skin the matte finish I like, it doesn’t clog up my pores and it’s nourishing with the Vitamins A and E, and Jojoba in there too. See my full review HERE

The award winning Pro-Base Prime & Conceal. This is just fabulous! It’s got everything you need for colour correcting different areas of the face, it’s soft and creamy and blends beautifully. I’ve actually “hit pan” on the salmon pink shade now, it’s the one I use most of all. Click HERE for full review.

The gorgeous Elysium eye shadow palette is my most reached for MUA palette. Gorgeous mix of shimmer and matte shades for a pretty daytime look, to the sexy sultry smokey eye for evenings out. If you would like to see my full review, please click HERE.

For Spring and Summer time I’m loving a more natural look for my lips. For me there is nothing better than the Sweet Sheen Lip Balm in the shade Coral Reef. It’s just the right amount of colour and is super hydrating for the lips. You can see my full review HERE.

MuaLipScrub

I adore this lip scrub, I use it every night during my evening skincare routine. No more waking up with dry lips for me. It sloughs away all the dry skin and hydrates and conditions them with lovely Vitamin E. You can see my full review HERE.

MuaAvocadoMascara

The Eye Define Nourish & Care Volume Mascara is a new discovery for me and it’s now my favourite budget brand mascara. It’s so black, it volumises my eye lashes and it conditions too. The brush itself is perfect and grabs every lash for me. You can see my full review HERE.

MUA Makeup Academy Eye Define Nourish and Care Volume Mascara..

Hello lovelies, welcome to Elegant Ageless Beauty I’m Teresa.

When I first saw that MUA had launched a new volumising mascara I got rather excited, even more so when I found out that it contains Avocado Oil to help nourish and care for the eyelashes. I’ve been on a “spending ban” since January so I didn’t think I would be able to get this much wanted mascara for a while yet. But those gorgeous people at MUA Makeup Academy very kindly sent me one as a gift for my birthday back in April. This is the Eye Define Nourish and Care Volume Mascara.

MuaAvocadoMascara

I was so pleased that this mascara has a proper bristle brush, I don’t get on with the silicon ones very well, and the bristles on this wand are fantastic. They get right to the roots of my lashes, which are short through age, and it coats all of the lashes with product. I can actually feel the brush holding the lashes as I apply it.

It’s the blackest of black mascara, I have a solitary grey lash and it’s covered that. I always curl my eyelashes before applying mascara, and I sometimes find that mascara can weigh them down and they end up straight again, but I found that with the Nourish and Care mascara because the lashes remain soft not crispy and hard, they hold the curl for a longer time. It’s the avocado oil that gives the lashes the softness and nourishment, and it can also encourage them to grow too, although I’ve not noticed mine to be any longer, yet. I always apply 2/3 coats of mascara depending on if I’m staying home or not. I found that even with the 2 coats my lashes look fuller and much more noticeable and I like that a lot! This mascara is my new favourite High Street mascara, one that I shall re-purchase when my spending ban is lifted. At just £4.00 I think I might get two! You can purchase from Superdrug on the High Street or online and also from MUA HERE.
