A Little Essence Cosmetics Haul….

Hello, lovelies, Welcome to Elegant Ageless Beauty.

I recently popped into my local Wilko aiming to get a few Essence Cosmetics products that I’ve had my eye on for a while. I wanted the Lash Princess mascara but to be honest the Essence stand wasn’t well-stocked at all. There were a few other things I was after and couldn’t get hold of, so my shopping list/haul ended up slightly different. But alls well that ends well, as they say, this is what I did pick up.

I have been after a decent eyeshadow blending brush and smudge brush for a while, they had to be of low budget and Essence does have rather good brushes I’d seen. So that’s what I picked up. I’ve yet to use them so I will get back to you with my thoughts of them, soon. I have always known that a dark blue eyeliner is particularly flattering for the mature lady’s eye makeup so I picked up this lovely propelling pencil in the shade Cool Down, it’s a blue-grey shade, said to be long-lasting 18-hour waterproof wear, I’ll let you know how I get on with that one too! The products from my little beauty booty that I have actually used are rather good! The Banana nail file is absolutely brilliant. I don’t like a real course file for my nails and this one is perfect for me. It’s double-sided, one side (black) is to shorten the nails and the pink side is to smooth and shape. I love it! It leaves my nails so smooth and ready for all the nail treatments and polish. A right good nail file. The two glitter nail polishes are all ready for the coming Christmas season (sorry) The pretty pink glitter polish is in the shade 07 Party Princess. The glitter is very fine particles and really do sparkle and shine when on the nails, it’s gorgeous! The purple/silver glitter polish is in the shade 23 Party Time. This one has bigger glitter particles and again is very shiny when it catches the light. This one, however, is a bit of a devil to take off. I’m now looking to get myself a peel-off basecoat. I picked up the Lashes of the Day super volume mascara, and because I was thinking that I would need it, I also got myself the Essence Volume Booster lash primer. I do have a review of both these products coming up, but I can tell you that I don’t need the lash primer when I wear the lashes of the Day mascara!

So, that was my little Essence/Wilko beauty haul. I’ll be back with reviews very soon. Thank you for stopping by today.

Christmas Gifting at Superdrug…

Welcome to Elegant Ageless Beauty, I’m Teresa

I have been a rather lucky blogger, and have been sent four lovely gifts from Superdrug and I’m sharing with you here on EAB. Before I begin, I do have to apologise for the use of Superdrug stock images instead of Mark’s beautiful photographs here on my blog, we’ve been having a few issues which I shan’t bore you with right now. But I can honestly say that these products have been sent to me for reviewing I haven’t just picked four products from the website and put them here, I was however asked to choose which gifts I would like to feature and I chose gifts that I would love to receive myself or gifts that I would definitely give to others.

Regular readers may know that I am a huge fan of B. Skincare, a Superdrug own brand, but Mark has yet to try the B. Men products, so I though that this would be perfect for him to dip his toe into, and the rest of him too, obviously! This is a super gift set for the man in your life. With a 4 in 1 wash that is suitable for hair beard face and body, it’s a huge 200ml too. There’s a 150ml of delicious moisturiser for face body and hands in this gift set. Both products contain Vitamin E, Horse Chestnut and Willow Bark extracts. Both of these products are suitable for Vegetarian and Vegans. Right now you can save £4 on this gift HERE.

The Spaa Escape and Relax Slipper Set is a gift I would love to find under the Christmas tree. It contains a pair of comfy looking towelling slippers that will fit shoe sizes 5 to 7 a 100g package of reviving Bath Salts, which going from past experience of using this Spaa brand, smells amazing! There is also a 75ml tube of Nourishing Foot Lotion. A super gorgeous set to use at the end of a long day methinks. This gift set is half price at Superdrug at the moment HERE.

For anyone who enjoys fruity fragrances I think the Fruity by Superdrug shower set is ideal. The Fruity range of shower gels are some of my favourites and always in my bathroom cabinet. This one is Pineapple and Papaya fragrance, and it really does smell amazing! There is a 100ml shower gel, 100ml body lotion and a pineapple sponge. This gift set is half price HERE.

If you love makeup, whoever you are, you can never have too many brushes. This is a super set of three brushes and a foundation blending sponge by Studio, London. I think that this set is ideal to give to someone just starting out using makeup, and I have an idea of who in my family would rather like this. I’ve not used this brand of brushes myself yet, so I can’t comment on the workability of them. They are synthetic so they will be easy to clean. The sponge contains latex which may cause an allergic reaction. The Studio London 4 piece brush set is half price right now in Superdrug stores and online HERE.

Once again, I’m so sorry for the use of stock images in this post. However I have taken some photos with my phone and will be popping them over on my Instagram shortly.

Thank you for stopping by today.

It’s The Spongeclean by Basic Beauty Tools…

Hello there lovelies, welcome to Elegant Ageless Beauty, I’m Teresa.

I have been waiting for this product to launch so patiently and when it came to me and I opened the package I did a silent “Yes”! Regular readers may recall that I reviewed what I called, The Best Foundation Blending Sponge Ever! from Basic Beauty Tools, you can see that review HERE.  Now I’m so happy that they have launched a liquid cleanser for the sponge. This is Spongeclean.

Firstly, I love the packaging, very cute, pink and pretty. It is a plastic bottle which I believe is recyclable, and it’s all made in the UK too! The product inside is a gel like consistency which smells very fresh and clean, I couldn’t recognise the fragrance at first, but now I’m getting the faint smell of Pear.

How I used the spongeclean. Dampen your sponge, then I added about 50p size amount of cleanser to my sponge. You squeeze the product out of the bottle which I did find difficult, I do suffer with arthritis in my wrists and fingers and the bottle was hard to squeeze, but I got there. I agitated the cleanser into the sponge, adding more warm water to really get up some lather. It was so satisfying seeing all the lather turn foundation colour, and it really did dissolve and deep clean the makeup from my sponge. I rinsed it out in warm water then in cold water, the cleanser rinses out so well. I squeezed excess water out using a clean towel and popped it to dry on my Spongedry holder. When the sponge was completely dried it was so soft and  smelled all fresh and clean, so much better than the solid cleanser I had been using. Regular use of the Spongeclean will keep your sponge all clean and fresh and conditioned!

Basic Beauty Tools have given me a discount code to pass on for 20% off all their products. Apply SPONGECLEAN20 on the website until end of October 2018 HERE.

Thank you for stopping by today.

The Best Foundation Blending Sponge……EVER!

Hello and Happy 2018 my lovelies! I’m Teresa, welcome to Elegant Ageless Beauty…

When I was asked if I would like to review the Basic Beauty Tools foundation blending sponge and Spongedry holder I have to be honest with you it was the holder that had me saying yes please!

I’ve got and used a few brands of foundation blending sponges, and they are all pretty much the same on performance and usability. They all work better when used dampened, although some expand more than others when damp. The Basic Beauty Tools sponge is absolutely fantastic, it’s Latex FREE for one thing! And when dampened it expands more than I’ve seen on any other beauty sponge. To use mine I wet it under the cold tap and squeeze excess water out, then I squeeze it inside a clean towel to take out even more water. This particular teardrop shaped sponge is so soft and spongy when damp it’s gorgeous, it bounces over my skin when I apply my foundation using the rounded bottom (!!!) and the point is fantastic for getting into all the nooks of the face, ie around the nose and eyes, and it doesn’t soak up all my foundation and concealer into itself either, which is due to the  unique micro cell texture of the sponge.

I found my sponge to be so easy to clean, I do use the same solid soap cleanser that I use for my brushes, and then pop it to air dry on the Spongedry holder also from Basic Beauty Tools. The little holder is just fantastic to allow your sponge (any brand to!) to dry after cleaning, it dries pretty quickly, again due to the micro cell texture, and drying this way stops a buildup of bacteria as you would if you let your sponge just dry off in your makeup bag. It’s also great to store your beauty sponge on your dressing table on a daily basis too.

Check out this gorgeous foundation sponge HERE.

Yogi Smart Styler

A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to receive a hair styling gadget from Yogi, a brand I had heard of from seeing them presenting their hair styling wand on the shopping channel QVC. I was asked which product I would like to try, and because I knew that I would be getting my hair cut I decided to go for the Yogi  TouchX Smart Styler.

I am so glad I chose the TouchX Smart Styler too, it’s a 10 in 1 styling tool that’s so fantastic to use, it’s easy and it’s so lightweight which I was pleased about as I do suffer from a bad neck and shoulders sometimes which makes it difficult to reach the back of my hair. Well until now that is, now it’s a piece of cake and I can get my hair looking as good from the back as I can the front!

The Smart Styler  has Tourmaline and Ionic technology  which helps to smooth the hair also reduces static and locks in moisture. It has a fast ceramic heater, which heats from 120 degrees centigrade to 200 degrees centigrade with easy to control temperature settings. It’s suitable for all hair types from fine/delicate hair, to thick strong and curly, and also thick, course and wavy hair like mine!  This is such a versatile styler it will  add volume to the hair, adds beautiful waves and flicks it will twist and curl and it will also smooth and straighten and more besides! It’s 10 in 1 after all..

To switch on the styler you press and hold the power button for a couple of seconds, then to select your appropriate heat setting you  press the on/off button until your temperature choice is illuminated. Once you have selected your required temperature the red light will flash, then stop and remain lit when the temperature has been reached, easy peasy!  To switch off the styler you simply press and hold the power button until the red light goes off, it’s then safe to unplug the styler.

I recently had my hair chopped off into a layered style (which I now regret doing, my hairdresser was rather scissor happy) I like my hair big, always have always will, it suits me better than a sleek straight style. To get plenty of volume and bounce in my hair I shampooed and conditioned as usual and applied a heat protecting spray too. I then dried my hair thoroughly, you can’t use the Smart Styler on wet hair. I started at the back of my head, and with the extra long 360 degrees swivel cord it’s easy to get to the back. To add volume you just place the styler into the roots of the hair and lift up as you are drawing the styler out, right to the tip of your hair, WOW, the volume it gives my hair is brilliant, AND it leaves my hair shiny too. That’s what makes this styler so smart, apart from the fantastic curl and volume, it’s  the lovely shine it gives and with much less damage too, which is perfect as an older woman (late 50’s now)  with mature hair, a fantastic hair styling tool for me! You can check out the Yogi Smart TouchX Styler HERE.
