Lashings of Essence!

Hey there lovelies, welcome to Elegant Ageless Beauty.

I am always on a quest to find my lashes! I used to have long thick eyelashes when I was younger, now I’m nearing 60 (next month) they have become sparse and so bloody straight. I can cope with them being sparse alright, but I hate that they have lost their oomph and curl, I want them to open up my eyes again. My eyes have become hooded over the years too which makes my lashes look even more non-existent. I did buy an eyelash serum to use at night to help regrowth, but I have always forgotten to use it in my nighttime routine. I’ll get back to using it (it’s a No7 one) and write a review, maybe that will spur me on to get the stuff on my lashes. But it is something you have to wait a while to see results of, and I’m not the most patient of women. I’d have to wait at least 3 months. If you think this is something you would like to see from me, leave me a comment.

Anyhoo, to give me a bit of confidence back, and some eyelashes I purchased a lash primer and mascara from the brand Essence.

I bought Lashes of the Day super volume mascara and Volume Booster lash primer. Let me start at the first base with the eyelash primer. This is infused with acai oil and mango butter to nourish the lashes, it’s white in colour when applied with the mascara wand applicator. You obviously apply it to your eyelashes before mascara let it dry for a few moments, then apply your mascara. It doesn’t dry down hard and crispy, my lashes still felt really soft. I had to have a sniff of the product, and to me, it smelt fruity. The brush is great at the lash separation, and got right to the really tiny lashes on the inside of my eyes, and also my bottom ones too. This is really great stuff! I have used it for all my various mascara brands and each time it has given me great eyelashes, and I feel more confident with the way my makeup looks. I tried to take some photos of my eyes to pop on here myself, but I just couldn’t do it. I will see if I can get Mark to take some for me, of me and I’ll post over on my Instagram at a later date. I purchased my Essence lash primer from Wilko in my local town, you can also get it from HERE.

The mascara I purchased to go with the lash primer is this one from Essence, Lashes of the Day Super Volume mascara. It doesn’t seem to be on the Wilko website right now so I’m not sure if it’s been discontinued or not. I tried this mascara with the primer and without, and I’m quite happy with my eyelashes without it. The brush is a great size and shape and grabs hold of all my lashes, even the tiny ones. I don’t like a mascara that’s too wet and this one isn’t, it applies brilliantly. My lashes don’t feel hard and crunchy and it doesn’t flake off during the day either. A really great mascara, in my opinion. As I said I purchased this mascara from my local Wilko store, but it doesn’t seem to be on their website so I can’t leave a link to this one.

Max Factor Face Finity All Day Flawless 3 in 1 Foundation..

Welcome to Elegant Ageless Beauty, I’m Teresa.

I’ve been using a new foundation this week. This is the Max Factor Face Finity All Day Flawless 3 in 1 Foundation with Flexi-Hold.

Okay, so I have mature skin that’s on the dry side and I had seen reviews on this foundation about it clinging on the drier areas of the skin. So taking that on board, before I applied the foundation I let my moisturiser really sink in first.

Max Factor Face Finity All Day Flawless 3 in 1 Foundation is a primer foundation and concealer all in one lovely glass pump action bottle. It’s a buildable medium to full coverage and is stated that it will last 24 hours being non-transferable touch-proof and shine proof. I obviously haven’t worn my makeup for 24 hours so I can’t comment, but my skin didn’t go shiny, I didn’t get foundation transferring to light coloured necklines of my clothes, and it did last me all day with the colour staying in place. I found the foundation applied better for me when I used a sponge rather than a brush, my pores are far less noticeable and my skin looked flawless. Although it is a matte finish it doesn’t make my skin look “flat” I still had natural-looking skin, I loved that I don’t have to use powder to set afterwards. Face Finity foundation is Dermatologically tested and it didn’t clog my pores, it’s also got an SPF 20 and it’s oil-free.

Father Christmas gifted me this and I believe he got it from Boots HERE

A Little Essence Cosmetics Haul….

Hello, lovelies, Welcome to Elegant Ageless Beauty.

I recently popped into my local Wilko aiming to get a few Essence Cosmetics products that I’ve had my eye on for a while. I wanted the Lash Princess mascara but to be honest the Essence stand wasn’t well-stocked at all. There were a few other things I was after and couldn’t get hold of, so my shopping list/haul ended up slightly different. But alls well that ends well, as they say, this is what I did pick up.

I have been after a decent eyeshadow blending brush and smudge brush for a while, they had to be of low budget and Essence does have rather good brushes I’d seen. So that’s what I picked up. I’ve yet to use them so I will get back to you with my thoughts of them, soon. I have always known that a dark blue eyeliner is particularly flattering for the mature lady’s eye makeup so I picked up this lovely propelling pencil in the shade Cool Down, it’s a blue-grey shade, said to be long-lasting 18-hour waterproof wear, I’ll let you know how I get on with that one too! The products from my little beauty booty that I have actually used are rather good! The Banana nail file is absolutely brilliant. I don’t like a real course file for my nails and this one is perfect for me. It’s double-sided, one side (black) is to shorten the nails and the pink side is to smooth and shape. I love it! It leaves my nails so smooth and ready for all the nail treatments and polish. A right good nail file. The two glitter nail polishes are all ready for the coming Christmas season (sorry) The pretty pink glitter polish is in the shade 07 Party Princess. The glitter is very fine particles and really do sparkle and shine when on the nails, it’s gorgeous! The purple/silver glitter polish is in the shade 23 Party Time. This one has bigger glitter particles and again is very shiny when it catches the light. This one, however, is a bit of a devil to take off. I’m now looking to get myself a peel-off basecoat. I picked up the Lashes of the Day super volume mascara, and because I was thinking that I would need it, I also got myself the Essence Volume Booster lash primer. I do have a review of both these products coming up, but I can tell you that I don’t need the lash primer when I wear the lashes of the Day mascara!

So, that was my little Essence/Wilko beauty haul. I’ll be back with reviews very soon. Thank you for stopping by today.

Getting the Summer Glow with Technic Cosmetics…

Hey there lovelies, welcome to Elegant Ageless Beauty!

I have got an eyeshadow palette that just spells out the Summer holidays. It’s pretty and vibrant and has Flamingoes on the packaging!

This is the Summer Glow eyeshadow palette by a brand I’ve heard of but never actually purchased before, Technic. Mark picked this up for me in our local Jack’s store. Jack’s is a subsidiary of Tesco.

This gorgeous palette is in a bright pink tin with flamingoes standing all across the top. Inside the lid of the tin is a super mirror that you see the whole of your face in, there’s another flamingo standing in the corner of the mirror. The colours though are a pure joy to behold. Beautiful brights, gorgeous nudes/natural shades. Most are matte but there are a few shimmers in there too. The colours I tried out are so buttery soft and very easy to blend out to the intensity you want. I love that each eyeshadow has been given the name of a favourite holiday destination, my two faves are the final two “Bora Bora” and “Maldives” In fact they are all beautiful colours and I’d love to give those more vibrant shades a go, I must have a play around sometime.

This palette was a beautiful bargain in our local supermarket, I think the brand is available in places like Tesco, Bodycare, and online at Fragrance Direct HERE. Their official website too and is HERE.

Have you tried the Technic brand? Let me know what you’d recommend.

Lacura (Aldi) Naturals Eyeshadow Palette

Hey there lovelies, welcome to Elegant Ageless Beauty.

Mark popped into Aldi to do a bit of a top up shop and came home with a really nice eyeshadow palette for me. It’s from the Lacura brand, who are quite renowned to do damn good dupes of the more expensive beauty products out there. This Naturals eyeshadow palette looks very similar to something from Urban Decay methinks. I can’t compare them though, I’ve never used Urban Decay.

With 12 eyeshadows in natural/nude shades and a mix of cool and warm tones, you should be able to create lots of different looks with this one. For me, I thought the shadows are a bit chalky and “bitty” when I dipped my brush in. The lighter shades didn’t give much colour pay off when applied either. I like to apply a wash of a matte cream shade over my eyes before I add colour, don’t ask me why I just do. The darker the colours are the better the payoff seems to be. The shimmer shades come off better than the more matte ones, to be honest. The packaging is pretty nice, the palette itself is plastic and then inserted into a box, and like Urban Decay it has a double-ended brush. The brush actually is a pretty good one, especially the fluffy blending brush which I have been using with all my eyeshadows not just when I use this one. To be honest, wear time isn’t great it fades after a couple of hours, so I wouldn’t choose this one for a long day out. I’ll continue to use just on a daily basis when I fancy putting a face on. It could be ideal for a young person just getting into makeup when there isn’t much of a budget.

Have you tried any of the Aldi Lacura beauty “dupes”? I’d love to know what you think.
