Some Favourites From 2019… (some have been gifted)

Hello, my lovelies, Happy 2020 to you all!

I thought that I would kick off my first blog of a new year with some of my favourites of 2019, telling you about the products that I loved last year. Some may have been gifted to me, some I have purchased myself and I will tell you which ones are which throughout this post.

I’ll kick off with a product that was very kindly sent to me for reviewing here on EAB, it’s a beautiful facial oil from Lumity. This is the Skin Nutrient facial oil which I have loved using and still using now.

There are 32 100% all-natural ingredients in this beauty, each one providing the best source of nutrients our skin wants for the nourishment it needs. It’s 100% vegan too, so that’s a winner. I noticed a difference in my skin as soon as I began using it, after cleansing at night time I massaged this oil into my skin, and then applied night cream over the top. The next morning my skin is so plumped, soft and glowing. I was using it twice a day morning and night, but I felt my skin would benefit more if I just used it at night time. You can see my full review just HERE.

Next up is an eye makeup remover which has become a firm favourite for me, and it’s by Boots No7. This is the No7 Radiant Results Revitalising Eye Makeup Remover. I purchased this myself, just for disclosure.

It’s a dual-phase product, you need to make sure it is shaken fully before using. I poured a small amount onto a cotton pad and held it over each eye for a few seconds before wiping away gently. It literally took all my eye makeup away in a couple of swipes. It doesn’t sting my eyes and there is no oily residue left behind. I have to say my eyelashes do feel rather soft after using it too. You can read my full review if you would like too, HERE

I have always wanted to find a cleansing balm that is within my budget, and I have found one that really is super cheap from Boots No7. This is the Radiant Results Nourishing Cleansing Balm.

I love this so much that I already have backups of it! It’s enriched with grapeseed oil, coconut oil, and cocoa seed oil. You don’t need to use a huge amount, just enough to massage over the face, and it’s gentle enough to use over the eye area too, just in case I’ve missed anything when removing my eye makeup. Once it’s massaged in, I remove it with the muslin cloth or a face cloth. After using this wonderful cleansing balm my skin feels so clean and fresh, not at all dry and tight either. A really fabulous product, that will always be in my bathroom cupboard. There is a bit of a review HERE if you would like to check it out.

Let’s have a look at a couple of makeup pieces I have loved over the last year. I have purchased them myself. First up is a foundation from MUA Makeup Academy, this is the Pro/Base Long Wear Matte Finish Foundation.

This is a beautiful foundation, I’m not usually a big fan of matte foundations for myself as I find they can be a bit ageing and drying on my skin type. But this one does contain vitamin E and is paraben-free too. When it’s on my skin it doesn’t look dry and flat-looking, in fact, it still looks fairly dewy. It lasts well and doesn’t cake or settle into my lines. If you would like to see my full review you can read it HERE

Next up, I’ve gone for another MUA makeup Academy product, this time it’s a beautiful cream blush. This is the Blushed Cream Blush and my shade is Misty Rose.

A perfect blush for mature dry skin, which can also be used on the lips. You only need the smallest amount as it’s so pigmented, a little really does go a long way. The colour lasts for ages until I remove my makeup. Although a cream product, it’s not sticky either. Pop some on the lips for a matte lip look without the dryness, or put on the top of a lip balm for a more moisturising lip colour. I have a full review HERE.

I found my new favourite concealer last year too. It’s a B. Cosmetics by Superdrug, Flawless Duo Concealer.

With two shades of creamy concealer in the little palette to customise to the shade you want. I used the lighter shade under my eyes for a bit of brightness and mixed the two shades together for more coverage over my areas of concern. This is perfect for me. There’s a review HERE.

So that’s just a few of my favourite products from 2019. I will more than likely acquire some new ones over this year. I had some Ted Baker makeup for Christmas which I have yet to try on myself. I have had to keep it all pristine to take some photos, but the dark wet old weather makes it impossible to get good light here.

Anyhow, thank you lovely reader for popping by today.

No7 Radiant Results Nourishing Cleansing Balm….

Hello lovelies, welcome to Elegant Ageless Beauty, I’m Teresa.

I took a shopping trip to Boots for my birthday and picked up some gorgeous products that was in their 3 for 2 offer at the time. I am into cleansing balms at the moment so I was so happy to find this one for just £6.50 for a 125ml pot.

Enriched with beautiful grapeseed oil coconut oil and cocoa seed oil, all helping to clean and nourish the skin, without the dryness and tightness and stripping the skin. When massaging the balm over my face it turns to an oil like consistency which I loved, and there is no residue left behind after removal, just soft, nourished hydrated and clean skin. It comes with a lovely muslin cloth which does help to give some micro exfoliation.

I used this cleansing balm after wearing rather a lot of makeup. I did use an eye makeup remover to take that off, and then used the cleansing balm which I took over my eyes in case anything was left behind, there wasn’t but the cleansing balm didn’t sting my eyes at all. I have to be honest and say that I’ve not tried removing eye makeup with it yet, I’ll give it a go and come back to you with my thoughts. The Boots No7 Radiant Results Nourishing Cleansing Balm really is so lovely, I’m enjoying it very much. I don’t shop much in Boots, so this was a rather nice birthday treat for me. You will find this cleansing balm HERE.

There’s a Buy 1 get 2nd 1/2 price on selected No7 skincare, cosmetics and beauty tools at the moment in Boots.

Thank you for stopping by today.

Superdrug Optimum PhytoCalm Bedtime Cleansing Balm…{Not an Ad, gifted. I purchased this myself}

Hello my lovelies, welcome to Elegant Ageless Beauty, I’m Teresa.

I have been using this cleansing balm for about 6 weeks now and I actually got very disappointed that I wouldn’t be able to share my thoughts with you. As soon as I bought it from Superdrug Online I tried it and really loved it and I decided to get another one so that I had a backup. To my dismay it was no longer available, even though it was a new product. I have since found out that it is still available, but it appears to be in store only right now.

As I said at the start I really love the Optimum PhytoCalm Bedtime Cleansing Balm. It’s a Superdrug own brand which I am a huge fan of.

Although this says Bedtime Cleansing Balm, I have been using it in the morning as well as at night. For night time, if I have been wearing makeup I remove it first with another Superdrug product, a miscellar water. I then massage all over my face including eyes with the balm cleanser. It’s not a massively hard balm it’s easy to get from the pot to use and it does move easily over the skin and melts almost oil like into my face. It doesn’t sting or irritate my eyes, and it takes away the last traces of makeup that the miscellar water has left behind when I remove it with a wet face cloth, or muslin cloth. It does smell amazing too, very sweet and floral, which would be from the Four O’clock Flower which is within the product. This beautiful fragrant plant is often used in skincare for sensitive skin due to it’s calming, hydrating and strengthening properties. The Optimum PhytoCalm Bedtime Cleansing Balm will always be a repurchase for me now for as long as it’s available, it’s just lovely and leaves my skin feeling clean, soft and smooth. There’s an overnight mask available which I shall share with you soon.

The Superdrug Optimum range of skincare is cruelty free and suitable for vegans. See more products HERE

A Small Superdrug Haul……

Hello my lovelies, welcome to Elegant Ageless Beauty, I’m Teresa.

I had these gorgeous products sitting in my basket on the Superdrug website for some time now, so I thought it was about time to actually click “pay” and purchase them. In the interest of transparency I have to tell you that nothing in this beauty booty is pr gifted, I paid for it all myself. I have previously worked with Superdrug and had products from all these ranges gifted to me in the past, that’s why I buy them myself now to be honest, I know they work for me. Although I’ve never had pr from Rimmel, ever. I shall just have to dream about that, loving Rimmel nail care and polishes like I do!

For me, anything that has the Superdrug name on it works for me. Be it their varying ranges of skincare or their own range of makeup that is B. by Superdrug. The Optimum range of skincare is one of my favourites, and that range in particular caters for anyones skincare needs, whatever age. The newest range from Optimum is the night-time or bed time range of products. I treated myself to the Cleansing Balm and the Moisture Mask. I also got myself two products from the Optimum PhytoSurvive range, the Multi Protecting Serum and the Multi Protecting Day Cream.

Another Superdrug own brand of skincare is B. Skincare. I chose two cleansing products. A mahoosive bottle of Micellar Water, and a simply delicious bottle of the Micellar Oil, which is an oil to milk cleanser. From B. Makeup I picked up the Flawless Duo Concealer. All Superdrug own brand products are Vegan friendly.

Lastly I treated myself to two Rimmel 60 second super shine nail polishes, in the shades Black Cherries and Berries and Cream.

Well that’s just a few of the gorgeous products that I picked up from Superdrug a while back, and I’ve since added a few more to my basket, like Flower Beauty’s foundation and concealer ( a lovely looking makeup range by Drew Barrymore, the actress) I can’t wait to get my hands on those in a few weeks.

Thank you for stopping by today, I’ll come back soon with reviews of some of the products in my haul.

Ko-To-Ha Lavender Cleanser

Welcome to Elegant Ageless Beauty, I’m Teresa..

I was recently contacted by Yoko who founded her Japanese beauty company Ko-To-Ha in 2015, to ask me if I would like to try some of her skincare products and then review them here on Elegant Ageless Beauty. As its natural skincare something that I love, I was more than happy to agree to trialing. I have 4 products in all to share with you, and I will writing a separate post for each product.

The first thing I noticed about Ko-To-Ha‘s products is the  packaging, it’s pretty, clean white with a hint of pink! Winner for me. But the ingredients are also a huge winner for me. Ko-To-Ha uses Japanese  Oriental Shoyaku herbs in all their products. Shoyaku is Japanese “active medicinal herb” and ko-To-Ha uses a combination of them. These herbs are: Ginseng, which   contains Vitamin B1, B2 and B12 Amino acid. Ginseng also helps the regeneration of skin cells and it amazingly has the ability to stop the decrease of Hyalauronic acid! There’s Peonia Lactiflora it’s used for its anti inflammatory purposes and is also astringent. When used it also helps to reduce the look of large pores. Chinese Angelica, contains Amino Acid its anti allergen and is often used to treat eczema. Mulberry Root Bark, contains flavonoids, is a powerful antioxidant and is 30 times more powerful than vitamin c! Licorice, is a skin brightener and it’s an anti-allergen so safe for eczema too. Green Tea, contains antioxidants , it helps with the regeneration of skin cells. Some or all of these wonderful herbs can be found in the ko-To-Ha products I’m sharing with you over the next few blog posts. So let me start at the beginning with the  Skin Cherish Lavender Cleanser.

Okay, so it’s certainly Lavender it smells amazing of it, absolutely gorgeous if you like the fragrance of Lavender. So after the initial “hit” of the fragrance I picked up the cute little scoop to take some product from the pot. I thought it was going to be a soft rich cream, but no it’s not soft at all. It is actually more like a “balm” or even coconut oil that has set hard in its jar. I scooped out the cleanser and followed the instructions on how to use, which I do recommend you read if you get hold of the cleanser. This is how Ko-To-Ha say to use the Skin Cherish Lavender Cleanser.

  1.  Take one spatula-full of cleanser in the palm . Spread the cleanser evenly on your palm (your palms should look white all over).
  2. Dip your fingertips in warm water and blend with cleanser. Then the cleanser becomes smooth. Please be sure to just add water little-by-little.
  3. Spread the cleanser on your face using a circular motion. If the cleanser becomes dry and hard, add a little warm water again to make it smooth. Repeat this process so any remaining dirt and makeup blends with the cleanser.
  4. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water.

Now, I did this and when the cleanser is spread all over your hands they do look very white, the cleanser feels like no cleanser I’ve ever used, before adding water to my hands it feels “hard” it’s not oily or greasy in any way at all. I did think how on earth was this going to cleanse my face! But once I had added warm water to my hands and began smoothing the cleanser over my face it massages in wonderfully. I like to massage for a good couple of minutes and I found that the cleanser goes dry and hard while massaging my face, but I just added more warm water and it was okay again. I washed the cleanser away with a face cloth to complete the routine.

After I finished cleansing, my skin looked clean, bright and felt very soft, neither dry or tight. I would however use this as a second cleanse after removing makeup, or as my morning cleanse which in fact is what I am doing, I use it every morning and am really enjoying it. You can find this lovely cleanser HERE.
